Can You Take Too Much CBD + CBDa?
Posted on March 28th, 2023
Are you wondering, can you take too much CBD + CBDa? Well, because CBD isn’t FDA-regulated, it can be tough to find the right dosage. In fact, there is no single ‘ideal’ dose. As a result, that leaves people with questions like: How much CBD should you take? Can you take too much CBD?
Now, there are many factors that go into determining your ideal CBD dose. Then, when you take a Tanasi product, you also have to remember that each product contains a patent-pending, 1:1 formulation of CBD and CBDa designed to deliver 2X the effects of a product containing CBD alone. (Meaning you may need less of our products to notice effects.) Want to learn the keys to hitting that sweet spot of daily intake? Read on to learn how to find the right dosage and what happens if you exceed that dose.
How Can You Determine Your Optimal CBD Dose?
There are many factors you should consider when deciding the appropriate CBD dosage. These include your chosen delivery method, the CBD concentration, your body weight, and your desired experience level, mild, moderate or more intense. On top of that, you must remember that cannabidiol impacts people differently based on their unique body chemistry.
All these variables make it challenging to find your optimal dosage. And that’s why talking to your doctor or other licensed healthcare provider first may be useful. If your healthcare provider has experience with cannabinoids, he or she may be able to offer useful guidance.
Not able to get professional guidance? Try starting with a smaller dosage and gradually increasing intake until you achieve your desired effect. Remember, many people get their desired effects even at lower doses, and you may find that a smaller dosage is best for you.
Sample Dosing Guidelines
As an example, you could begin with a dosage of approximately 20 mg. Each week, you can increase your dosage by 5 mg, if necessary. As you go along, track the amount of CBD + CBDa that you’re taking as well as the results you’re seeing at that dosing level. Eventually, you’ll be able to find a dosage that makes you feel just right.
Other factors, such as your weight, can impact how you absorb cannabidiol. If you have lower body weight, a lower dose is best. Adults with higher body weights may have to take more CBD + CBDa to see the same results.
How Does Dosage Change Over Time?
Dosing guidelines can vary greatly based on what you want to get out of your supplement, your current weight and state of health, and your chosen delivery method. Did you have a dose that seemed perfect, but now you’re not enjoying the same effects? Don’t worry, this is normal. The best way to reset is to take a break from CBD + CBDa for a few days, then choose a low starting dose when you’re ready to resume supplementing. (You may also choose to switch from tinctures to softgels; gummies to drink concentrates; or any other delivery method you haven’t tried yet.) Just stay positive and tuned into your body and you should be able to find a new dose that works for you.
How Can You Calculate CBD + CBDa Dosage?
With some types of CBD products, like capsules and edibles, it’s easy to see exactly how much CBD + CBDa you’re taking. Each of our Tanasi labels expressly tells you the precise dosage per serving.
Now, other products, such as tinctures, can be slightly more complex. These come in dropper bottles, and our labels will tell you the amount of CBD + CBDa that’s contained in each drop. From there, you’ll have to use this information to determine a suitable dosage for you.
Say that you have a 30mL bottle of our Blueberry Tanasi Gold CBD + CBDa tincture, and the bottle contains 3,600 milligrams of CBD + CBDa. Each mL contains 120mg of active ingredients. In contrast, our 2400mg Tanasi tincture contains 80mg of CBD + CBDa per mL, meaning you may take more each day if you need higher doses.
These calculations might seem difficult at first, but once you find a suitable CBD + CBDa dosage, you’ll be able to take the same number of drops every time. If you’d prefer to avoid calculating your dosage, products that a pre-dosed product will be your best option.
What’s Considered a High Dose?
People tolerate cannabidiol well, even at higher doses. In fact, current clinical data suggests it’s possible to take as much as 1,500 mg safely. While this suggests that overdoses aren’t a major risk, you should keep in mind that cannabis research is still in its early stages. So experts may discover additional risks at some point in the future.
Beyond that, you should remember that CBD + CBDa can interact negatively with some medications. For these reasons and others, it’s crucial to measure your intake with care. Always be aware of potential side effects. And, since cannabidiol can impact people in different ways, it’s always best to try your first supplement in a safe environment, monitoring how you feel before taking a second or higher dose.
Can You Take Too Much CBD + CBDa: Side Effects of Higher Doses
While taking lots of cannabidiol won’t cause long-term health concerns, it can cause a range of adverse side effects. These include dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and drowsiness. Other possible side effects include panic attacks, changes in your coordination, and a faster heart rate. In some cases, you may also develop a headache, or rarely, chest pain.
Some people may have more serious reactions to higher dosages. Because of their low body weight, children are particularly at risk. Although these kinds of cases are rare, they demonstrate the importance of caution when calculating your intake.
What Should You Do If You Think You’ve Taken Too Much CBD + CBDa?
If you believe you’ve taken too much of any supplement, you should contact your healthcare provider. For most people, taking cannabidiol offers a safe way to enjoy a plant-based supplement, but you should still show caution when finding the right dosage. Remember that it’s not necessary to take a high dosage to see results. Work to find the best dosage for your body and your unique needs.
