Inside our CBD+CBDA Workout Routine
Posted on November 24th, 2022
Love to stay active and love to take your daily dose of CBD+CBDA? Us too! In fact, our Tanasi team feels like these two lifestyle factors go better together! So, today, we’re going to talk about combining your CBD routine and gym schedule, and how that works for our Tennessee-based crew!
How Can CBD+CBDA Help Athletes?
As a company, we are passionate about science; it’s why we have devoted many years and a healthy financial commitment toward researching new ways to improve our cannabinoid formula and use hemp-extracted cannabinoid compounds. But given our devotion to science, we also know that hard work can take a toll on health, unless you make sure to stay active and focus on physical fitness.
Now sometimes, after a long day in the lab or at the office, we’re not feeling up for a long run or a heavy lifting session. And that’s why some of us started taking our daily dose of Tanasi patent-pending CBD and CBDa combo right before or after the gym, to see if it could help us get back to the exercise grind a little bit sooner.
But What is CBD? And What is CBDA?
Cannabidiolic-acid (CBDA) is a chemical precursor to cannabidiol (CBD). When heated, CBDA converts to CBD, one of more than 100 chemical compounds, called cannabinoids, that form naturally in all the strains of cannabis sativa L. plants, including low-THC hemp and high-THC marijuana plants.
Remember, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is the psychoactive cannabinoid that gets you high when you use marijuana. And all cannabinoids, whether CBD or CBDA contain all the same atoms as THC, but they’re arranged differently. And that means you won’t get high from using CBD, even if you choose a full-spectrum product that contains trace amounts of THC.
The Tanasi formula of 1:1 CBD+CBDA was developed by a team of scientists inside a University campus science lab. They were able to prove that CBD and CBDA are processed by different receptors, and work better when taken together. You can read all about the scientific discovery in the patent application here.
Now that you’ve got the basic terminology down, let’s get back to our original discussion: taking CBD+CBDA before or after the gym.
CBD and Workout Recovery
It’s typical for people who stick to challenging weekly workouts or who perform intense activities such as running marathons to experience muscle soreness post-workout. People who are dedicated to strenuous workouts put up with the discomfort. As the saying goes, “no pain, no gain.”
Approximately one day after an exercise regimen (and sometimes sooner), delayed-onset muscle soreness or DOMS, because of micro-trauma, sets in. Depending on how fit a person is and how hard the workout is will determine how much soreness exists during this delayed onset. Someone who is super-fit may experience little to no soreness. However, someone who is not fit will very likely experience a lot of soreness and may even have trouble sitting or walking. Some people deal with that soreness by taking over the counter pain pills such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. But many people on our Tanasi team like to target their sore spots with a topical like our 600mg Muscle Relief Rub. In fact, Tanasi customer Belinda P says, “I love this stuff. It is very easy to apply and really helps.”
Now, that’s how we use CBD+CBDA after a workout. But what about when we’re thinking of heading to the gym. Is there a place for cannabidiol in your pre-workout routine? Let’s find out, together!
CBD+CBDA Before a Workout
There’s a new fitness trend known as pre-workouts, short for pre-workout supplements. These are dietary formulas containing a blend of ingredients meant to boost your energy levels and improve your athletic performance. Some just drink a Red Bull, and that’s when we say, “you do you!” As suggested, “pre-workouts” are taken before a workout session. The many products available typically come in powder form and are meant to mix with water that you drink. While different brands “may” claim to have their own unique blend of valuable ingredients, there is some consistency in the types of ingredients included. The main ingredients found in almost all pre-workouts are caffeine, creatine, and amino acids — just read the small print on labels and packaging.
Now, that blend of ingredients is kind of a mixed bag when it comes to your health. Your body needs amino acids to function, so that ingredient shouldn’t be troubling. And if you’re worried about too much caffeine intake, you could always skip your morning coffee in favor of a pre-workout supplement. But when it comes to creatine? Well, creatine is responsible for producing quick bursts of energy during intense activities and plays an important role in promoting muscle growth and strength (from what we have learned from reading about creatine). Our research had us focused on several serious side effects, including:
- Liver and kidney damage.
- Kidney stones
- Bloating and weight gain.
- Muscle cramps and dehydration
- Disruptions to digestion
Clearly, there may be cause for concern when you look at the pre-workout ingredients list. That’s why some people may prefer a plant-based supplement like our CBD+CBDA water soluble drink concentrates, available in a 600mg or 2400mg concentration. Keep in mind, we prefer the “post-workout” routine with Tanasi.
Of course, everyone has a unique experience with cannabinoids. That means that some people may feel energized and pumped up for a tough workout after adding a few drops to their water or sports drink. But others, like Tanasi customer Dorothy D., recommends this product to “calm you down.” In other words, this may not be the perfect pre-workout supplement. But if you feel energized when you take your Tanasi CBD+CBDA products, it could work well for you!
Finding Your Best CBD+CBDA Workout Routine
There’s no such thing as an optimal dose of cannabinoids. Maybe you have a preferred dose, and some days you may want more, and some days less or none at all. Every person’s routine can and should be unique. What’s the right dose size for one person may be too much or too little for another. And the same is true of timing. Some people feel best when they take Tanasi CBD+CBDA before bed. Others love supplementing just before or after a workout. And guess what? They’re all doing it right.
With every Tanasi product we sell, we include a very general dosing guideline, to help you start your CBD+CBDA journey. From there, we encourage you to stick with a low set dose for several days and pay attention to how you feel after supplementing. If you’re looking for a different experience, you can always adjust your dose up or down from there. But what if you feel like you picked the wrong form of CBD+CBDA for your routine?
