What is cannabidiol (CBD) exactly?
Cannabidiol, better known as CBD, is one of more than 100 chemical compounds called cannabinoids that are found in hemp, a variety of the cannabis plant with low THC (the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high).
What is cannabidiolic-acid (CBDA) exactly?
Cannabidiolic acid is also a cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. CBDA is the chemical precursor to CBD and is basically the “raw form” of CBD. When CBDA is heated it decarboxylates and converts to CBD.
How is hemp different from marijuana?
“Hemp” and “marijuana” are terms used to describe varieties of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant. Hemp has very low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and higher levels of cannabidiol (CBD). CBD from hemp cannot get you high, unlike THC from marijuana that has an intoxicating effect.
