What is CBD? Here in our Tanasi family, we’ve been studying, researching, buying, and using it for many years. In fact, as soon as federal rules allowed us to, we dove into everything related to cannabinoids, CBD and industrial hemp genetics. Just to clarify, industrial hemp is simply a variety or specific genetic strain of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant that’s been cultivated for a low concentration of THC. And THC is the psychoactive extract found in concentrations above 0.3% in marijuana plants. The “marijuana” plants that are also Cannabis Sativa L. have specific cannabinoid and terpene profiles that deliver what the end user wants from their cannabis. You may have heard of “Indica” and “Sativa” which are descriptors to the genetics of the plant.
Now, both cannabidiolic-acid (CBDA) and cannabidiol (CBD) are compounds derived from the Cannabis Sativa L. plant. There are many cannabinoids found in cannabis, and they can convert into various versions of cannabinoids when heat is applied in processing. We focus on the CBDA and CBD in a one-to-one formulation, because our patent-pending formula combining both compounds has proven to be 2X more effective than CBD alone. All cannabis compounds are extracted, and then we ensure our CBD+CBDA 1:1 formula has the specific milligrams per product into oils, lotions, capsules, tinctures and more. So, what is the real difference between them? Let’s take a closer look.
In order to get CBD, you must begin with CBDA and take it through a process known as decarboxylation (a heating process). Staying close to nature can often help your body, and that is why we don’t fully heat the CBDA to remove all of the acid when we create our Tanasi products. But we also know that the CBDA/CBD combination has a synergistic effect in our products. And that helps set them apart from other CBD products you may encounter when choosing to purchase hemp extracts.
The Tanasi formula of CBD+CBDA 1:1 formula that is our patent-pending formula found in all of our Tanasi products, was developed in a University setting back in 2016. The University grant partner filed the patent in 2019. Since then, we’ve used it to create a wide and varied product line that delivers an equal ratio of CBDA AND CBD in every dose, across every delivery method.
But how did we land on this formula in the first place? We conducted extensive research, studying all of the non-THC cannabinoids narrowing our focus on the CBD and CBDA molecules on their own, and together. We made an important discovery: CBD and CBDA work better together than alone. We’ve even affirmed that discovery with bioassay studies (using living organisms to test for the presence of a compound). And they verified our formula’s superiority when compared to CBD alone.
There are a lot of CBD products out there today, and the list is growing when it comes to choosing CBD products that you like. It’s more than just taste, it should be all about results! It can be hard to understand the differences between the options, and even more difficult to determine which is your best choice. As we’ve mentioned, our products are scientifically validated and we have studied Cannabis Sativa L. thanks to the 2014 Farm Bill that allowed us to do so with the help of our research University grant partnership relationship.
But how can you really understand CBD? The best way is to use different types of products. And here are some you may wish to explore!
While many people experience effects when using CBD, different products will produce slightly different experiences. So let’s take a closer look at the differences between some of the most popular forms of CBD.
CBD oil tinctures were the original delivery method, and are still the most widely available and commonly used form of cannabidiol in the industry. Tinctures come in liquid form; you can ingest your dose on its own, or mix it into topicals, food or drinks. But, in order to maximize your CBD’s bioavailability (how much of the active ingredient your body can absorb), it’s best to dose sublingually (under your tongue, without mixing in other products).
CBD oil tinctures come in a wide variety of concentrations, making this delivery method a great option for everyone from people who are just beginning their CBD journey to veterans of the cannabidiol world. Regardless of your experience in CBD intake, tinctures are great for testing the dosage that works best for your body. They are also pretty affordable, meaning you do not have to spend a fortune to achieve your desired results.
Want to know another reason we love CBD tinctures? They allow you to enjoy that natural, earthy CBD flavor, or you can have fun with added terpene-derived flavors such as blueberry. Keep in mind that some people struggle to get the right dose into the included dropper, while others are turned off by the flavor. But if that’s your situation, don’t despair: just seek out a different delivery method! We see tinctures as being the easiest way to ingest the cannabinoids you seek for your desired results.
CBD oil topicals come in the form of creams, lotion, salve, balms, muscle rubs, sun recovery lotion, and sport sticks, and much more. When you use the topical form of CBD+CBDA 1:1 formula, it interacts with your skin, offering an easy way to target one specific trouble spot. Keep in mind, your skin will absorb the molecules and they will get into your blood. The point of entry is important so that you can achieve your desired results when using a topical. As an example, if your hands are where you want the CBD+CBDA formula, don’t put the CBD+CBDA lotion on your ankles.
This type of CBD comes in an array of forms, including powders, wax, and crystals. It can be the most expensive form of CBD because of processing, but it is the purest form you can find.
CBD and CBDA isolates provide an accurate CBD dosage. However, this is a form of CBD that’s usually best suited for experienced users. The wax and crystals can be vaporized, like smoking, and the crystals can be ingested like candies if you wish so. CBDA when vaporized turns into CBD with the heat involved with vaping. CBD can also be ingested when smoking cannabis flower too.
CBD isolate is a versatile form, as it can be added to e-juices for vaping, beverages or foods, and even used in cooking. This kind of versatility is what makes CBD isolate quite popular. CBD isolate can also be the cheapest form when mass produced. It’s also why, at Tanasi, we provide broad (THC free) or full-spectrum (includes minor amounts of THC) in our CBD oil instead of CBD isolates. Some products we use full-spectrum CBD distillate and add CBDA isolate to ensure the 1:1 CBD+CBDA formula.
While you could experiment by adding CBD oil to your recipes, you could also go ahead and purchase CBD edibles. These are available in all forms, including our popular CBD+CBDA 1:1 gummies. You can also enjoy CBD+CBDA 1:1-infused beverage options by adding our water-soluble drink concentrate to your favorite drink.
CBD capsules were the first CBD pills to enter the market, but companies have since expanded their offerings, now including easier-to-swallow soft gels. Perhaps the biggest benefit of this type of CBD is that the dosing is very precise. Some individuals just feel more comfortable when they know their exact CBD consumption level. And here’s the good news: you can find CBD soft gels in isolate form as well as a broad or full-spectrum hemp-extract CBD capsule. With pre-measured, easy to swallow doses, your daily CBD routine is a breeze. But remember, always consult with your physician before adding CBD to your daily routine.
As you can see, there are numerous types of CBD + CBDA products we offer. So how do you choose the one that’s right for you? The answer boils down to which will meet your specific needs. Once you know what you’re looking for in a final product, you’ll be better equipped to decide the form that’s best for you. And, if you choose wrong, don’t worry: all our products are backed by a 30-day satisfaction guarantee!
We encourage you to find a consistent dose and also a specific time of use that will help you decide what works best for you. Some people enjoy the relaxing feelings at bedtime, and wake up more relaxed having slept through the night. Some people who work out regularly say they are not as sore the next day. People with anxiety say they are able to approach situations they would have avoided had it not been for a little Tanasi in their routine. You need to find what works best for you. The two cannabinoids of CBD+CBDA are processed by two endocannabinoid receptors called, CB1 and CB2. If you are taking just CBD, you are only engaging one receptor that processes this cannabinoid.
