MCT Oil

CBD MCT Oil Benefits: Meet Our Favorite Carrier Oil

Here at Tanasi, we use MCT oil as a carrier oil for many of our CBD + CBDa products. We’re super excited about combining these two cannabinoids because our patent-pending ratio of these two is backed by some very promising research.

Now, if this were the 1980s, we’d be in a different position. But, over the past 50 years, we’ve seen a shift in attitude towards plants in the cannabis family. A plant that was once avoided because of its psychoactive effects is now at the front and center of supplements and scientific research.  One of the many isolated cannabis components is cannabidiol(CBD). It is one of the 113 different cannabinoids discovered to date in the cannabis plant. And, while it’s a popular ingredient in many supplements, not that many companies have decided to blend it with CBDA, the compounds acidic precursor. So, with Tanasi, you get 2x results compared to CBD alone.

Can you see why we’re so excited about our CBD + CBDa combination? We hope so! But we also want you to get amped up about MCT oil, the carrier oil we use in many of our products, including our CBD +CBD tinctures.

What Is a Tincture?

You may already be familiar with tinctures if you have extensive experience with herbal remedies or essential oils. A tincture is essentially a highly concentrated extract that uses alcohol during the extraction process. The alcohol can pull CBD and other essential compounds from cannabis plants. This then renders them in a stable liquid form.

Tinctures are nothing new. As long as distilled alcohol has existed, civilizations have used it to extract medicinal components from plants. Some of the earliest depictions of tinctures date back to Egyptian times. A book published in the year 1025 goes into great detail explaining the production of herbal tinctures. That book later became the basis for medicinal teachings in many countries.

Today, a tincture is a very simple combination of ingredients that is fairly easy to produce. This boosts their affordability and accessibility, which may be why we’re seeing more and more of these products hit the market each year. The best tinctures use as few ingredients as possible, and they come from high-quality sources. When you see two tinctures with the same ingredients but a big difference in price tag, there is usually a difference in quality.

Improving Tinctures With a Carrier Oil

The base tincture is simply the alcohol and the compounds extracted from the plant. But that alone won’t deliver the best possible results when you’re extracting CBD. CBD MCT oil is so popular and effective because it takes that base tincture and improves it with the addition of a carrier oil. Why is that the case? First, the added oil increases the bio-availability of the CBD, thus allowing for larger concentrations of the compound to be absorbed in your bloodstream. The carrier oil can also protect the CBD from being wasted inside of the digestive tract. Plus, MCT oil may carry its own unique effects. So you’re getting two effective compounds in one simple tincture.

Most CBD oil tinctures are sold with a carrier oil included, though some suppliers leave the work to you. The most commonly used carrier oils are:

  • Hemp seed oil
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Sunflower oil
  • MCT oil

Each of these carrier oils has its own unique benefits, boosting the effectiveness of the CBD tincture. They also vary in terms of effectiveness when it comes to boosting the CBD compound’s bio-availability.

Are you still wondering which of these carrier oils is the best option? In almost all cases, MCT is the superior carrier oil. Now, in some situations, you may be better off with hemp seed oil or sunflower oil carriers. For example, if you have a vitamin A or E deficiency, then you can boost your levels with sunflower oil. Otherwise, stick with a high-quality CBD oil tincture and MCT carrier oil.

What Is MCT Oil?

With the spotlight on CBD oil, it’s easy to overlook the MCT carrier oil and what it has to offer. MCT stands for Medium-Chain Triglyceride; it is a type of fatty acid that has grown in popularity over the past decade. MCT oil is most often sourced from coconut oil and is sometimes referred to as fractured coconut oil.

Caprylic Acid and Caproic Acid are two of the primary chemical compounds in MCT oils

In the past, experts worried that MCT oil might lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease compared to alternative oils. But several studies show that MCT oil does not create an increased risk.

This may make MCT oil a beneficial addition to your daily routine. But why consume MCT alone when it is improved tremendously with the addition of CBD oil?

How Does CBD MCT Oil Work?

We know that a tincture of CBD and MCT oil can effect your body because it is bioactive. Then, when you add MCT oil, it also becomes more bioavailable. So, in combination, you get more out of your product than you would with a different carrier oil.

Faster and More Efficient Absorption

MCT oil helps your body absorb more CBD than it would with a standard tincture. The body is simply not able to fully absorb the concentrated CBD extract inside the digestive system without some help. But since CBD is fat-soluble it can be combined with a fatty acid to increase its absorption rate.

MCT may also help the body absorb CBD more quickly than alternative carrier oils. MCT has a much smaller chemical structure than most other carrier oils. The smaller structure can be broken down faster and utilized at a quicker rate inside the body.

Increased Shelf Life

CBD doesn’t survive forever. Most experts agree that the shelf life of standard CBD oil is around one year at most. But even then you can expect to experience a decrease in quality. Using MCT as a carrier oil can increase that lifespan and help maintain a higher quality over time.

Get the Best CBD MCT Oil Benefits Possible

CBD oil is more popular today than ever before, but we expect the same will be true tomorrow. The more popular it becomes, the more CBD oil products we see hitting the shelves and pages of online stores. Already, we’ve been able to swim through that sea of options by combining CBD + CBDA together. But, if you’re looking for even more focused suggestions, then we recommend a CBD oil tincture, like Tanasi’s, that uses MCT oil as a carrier. There’s no need for any extra ingredients or bells and whistles. It’s a simple product that’s loaded with health benefits. And we hope you love it as much as we do!
