All About the Tanasi Difference

Let’s face it: for people who want to explore CBD products, there are lots of options. At times, it can be tough to pick one brand over another. And that’s why, we want to let you in on the secret behind our Tanasi difference: we’re not really just a CBD brand. Instead, each of our products is fueled by our University developed, patent-pending 1:1 ratio of cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and cannabidiol (CBD). Not sure what that means? Don’t worry, we’re about to explain! Because showing care for our customers is another Tanasi difference. So we always work to ensure that you fully understand what to expect when you buy and use our products.

Why are there so many CBD products?

Like we said, there are a lot of CBD products out there today, and the list of CBD items you can choose from are seemingly endless. It’s just CBD. We know that it can be hard to understand the differences between the options, and even more difficult to determine which is your best choice. There are different endocannabinoid receptors that process CBD from the endocannabinoid receptors that process CBDA.

But if you want to know why CBD is suddenly everywhere? That answer is pretty simple: thanks to the  2014 Farm Bill, followed by the 2018 Farm Bill, it’s now legal to study, grow and sell hemp and hemp-extracted supplements. (For reference, hemp plants are Cannabis Sativa L. plant varieties with low THC concentrations. As such, a hemp-extract supplement can’t get you high). This does not mean take as much as you want either. A little goes a long way, and you should always start “low and slow” when starting to use a new dietary supplement.

Why CBD+CBDA?

Remember when we told you that we aren’t a CBD brand? Well, it’s because we’re a CBD+CBDa brand. And that’s not a fact to brush off lightly. You see, Tanasi’s difference is also fueled by our investment in and dedication to science. And thanks to our relationship with a team of University-based researchers, who work inside an interdisciplinary center that consists of 10 faculty research groups: 7 in Biology that have expertise in using rapid in vitro cellular screening approaches to develop antibacterial, anticancer, antifungal, antihelminthic, antiprotozoal, antiviral, immunostimulant or immunosuppressant agents; and 3 in Chemistry that have expertise in compound separation, purification and identification we’ve determined that a combination of CBD + CBDa is 2X more effective than CBD on its own.

But since both molecules are related and have similar names, and both compounds can be extracted from hemp for use in oils, lotions, capsules, tinctures and more, you may wonder: what is the real difference?

CBDA to CBD

Here’s the story. In order to get CBD, you must begin with CBDA, since that’s what forms inside those hemp flowers and leaves. The conversion to CBD happens naturally inside the plant material and conversion to CBD with heating. Next, we take CBDA through a process known as decarboxylation (a heating process). During that stage, the CBDA transforms into CBD. And that’s the form of plant extract that you’ll find in most current CBD products. All CBD companies start with CBDA, and those companies do not realize the value of CBDA to the end user.

Still, we know that staying close to nature can often help your body. And that is why we don’t fully heat the CBDA to remove all of the acid when crafting the unique formulation behind the Tanasi difference.  After all, with many supplements, harnessing natural plant formulations can help absorb outside ingredients. (This is another reason why we recommend that you consult your doctor when taking a prescribed medication before taking any new supplements, even plant-based ones. CBDA can interact with an enzyme in your liver called, p450 that breaks down certain medications.) Basically, by incorporating a compound that’s closer to nature, our University team noticed that the CBDA+CBD combination has a synergistic effect that sets our products apart from ones that only contain CBD.

Tanasi’s Patent-Pending, University Developed CBD Formula

You’ll hear us talk about this formula a lot at Tanasi, because we know it helps set us apart from other brands. You see, a team of scientists discovered this formulation and came up with our patent-pending, University developed formula in 2017.  And, based on that formula, we’ve created a product line that delivers an equal ratio of CBDA AND CBD in every dose.

As we suggested earlier, we’ve conducted extensive research, studying both molecules on their own, and together.  And we made an important discovery: CBD and CBDA work better together than alone. The research data showed 2.7 times better, and we say 2X better than CBD alone. You can see this data yourself in the patent filing. We as a company continue to utilize third party contract resource organizations to further validate this formulation is better than CBD alone.

But our CBDA/CBD ratio isn’t all that sets our products apart when choosing CBD products. Tanasi Products: What’s Inside?

Recommended Dosage For Tanasi CBD+CBDa Products

When it comes to cannabinoids, every person’s body responds differently. For that reason, we can’t provide an exact recommended dosage of Tanasi CBD. What we can do, however, is give you a suggested starting point. You can determine that number by your weight and by the effect you desire from each product.

To that end, each of our products’ packaging includes an insert with a dosage chart. It contains three levels of impact—mild, moderate, and strong—for three separate weight classes—85-149 pounds, 150-229 pounds, and 230 pounds and up.

Regardless of the category you fall into, we have one more suggestion. Once you start supplementing your diet, we recommend following a “low and slow” approach. Start with a small daily dose and work your way up, if needed, until you find the daily intake that provides your desired results. Not sure what “slow” means? We’ve found that people do best waiting at least three to five days at one dosage level before increasing their Tanasi CBD+CBDA intake.

And, as a side note, please remember this: the effect of your dose may be altered by when you take it and how it’s broken up throughout the day. Some people like taking their full dose at the end of the day, right before bed. Others prefer smaller doses, scattered throughout the day. One customer recently said his dosing was a full dropper of 40mg tincture at night, and 20mg of the tincture in the morning.
